When we choose to ignore and live in a state of denial, we fuel the void growing within us—deepening our feelings of numbness.

Even if you’re surviving, you’re allowed to want to be happy again. It might be scary coming out of survival mode, because that is all you have known. But I can assure you, it is worth the leap to happiness, to do the work and be you again.

Is emotional numbness a sign of depression?
It can be. Lots of people with depression feel flat or numb. This is especially the case when they’re still functioning on the outside but feel empty on the inside.
Can depression make you feel tired all the time?
Yes. Even with sleep, you can feel exhausted. Depression drains both your energy and your drive. It is exhausting!
What’s the difference between fatigue and depression?
Fatigue is mostly about your body feeling tired.
Depression actually will hit your mood too. It’s the sadness, numbness, or feeling stuck that comes with it.
What helps when you feel emotionally numb?
Start small. A short walk. A warm cup of tea. A few words in a journal.
Anything that helps you connect back to you.
